Washed Out - Hold Out Video

Footage mashup of Washed Out aka Ernest Greene rocking out on his Spring 2010 tour.

Feel it All Around, by the way, is a great EP.

Revisited | Alison Scarpulla

I posted some pictures by Alison Scarpulla last fall. Since then , she's done a lot more. With her recent work , Scarpulla's style seems to focus on silhouette, shadows, bright light, double exposures, experimentation with print deconstruction and an overall  sentiment of mysticism and spookiness.
check out more of Scarpulla's new work here

Elliott Smith - No Name #1

This is my favorite song right now. And Roman Candle (Elliott's 1st album) is slowly becoming my favorite album of all time.

Don't forget, Issue 06 (6 issues?!, I can't believe it!) comes out in the later days of September.

news | Hook and Line in the latest issue of Zine World

Hi folks! Hook and Line Issue 02 was reviewed in the latest issue of Zine World!

Here's what they said:

Funky little zine comprised of interviews of artists and musicians and lots of well laid-out graphics. This issue features comic artist Travis Millard, visual artist William Lemon (who createsblockprints and drawings amongst other things), and the band one trickpony that defies normal musical categorization. H&L does a great job ofintroducing people to new art and music with links for further exploration. I really enjoyed reading the interviews and then checking out\the websites of the featured artists. –Anu

Mel Kadel

I'm really surprised I haven't posted anything about Mel Kadel on this blog yet. Mel is one of my favorite artists.  I remember discovering her work because she did the cover art for the album Pikul by the Silversun Pickups.

On the Road Again...

Neil Krug has photographed Devendra Banhart, Sea Wolf, and Ladytron amongst other musicians.  His use of expired polaroid film, and a vintage polaroid camera, lend his images a nogstalgic feel.  He plays with the present by steeping it in the past.  This series, On the Road, brings back memories of hazy, hot summer day road trips.  Enjoy all of it here.
